Actual Date of Online Entry: (2024)

[T1, W:06 – WD:26, (Td:1)*].

Dear Diary,

Woke up early today and had a quick arrival. I laughed to myself in the bus when I saw “Mr Adams” and the prefect girl coming out of their taxi and I had time to continue down to Sixth Avenue and reach the school before them. They walked from behind me. I went to sign the logbook and enter my leaving times for the week today since tomorrow would be no school (TUTTA Holiday).

I met Miss Mustapha and walked into the staffroom while she was listening to music. She got to know about the Calypso that I was trying to work on. While speaking with “GG”, she shared another song that seemed nice to work on for Steelpan. She was surprised that I did not know the song. Soon “Mel” came in and she left a bake and pork parcel on my desk. It was really good but battling this head cold had prevented me from tasting it properly.

As Mr Charles came in he mentioned that it was a mental health day and went into discussion about the air conditions in the different specialist's rooms. Two large air-conditioning units would be given for the music to replace the four small ones.

Jess called me for class, I could have sworn she called me Miss Sally. We had 3F and they were reviewing tracks for their presentations. “Mr Dass” and I had a lot of jokes about Akash. There was one track I liked to come up with words. I was glad that I had the Channa pie. I won’t remember how surprised Miss Hannah was when I asked for double heavy pepper. She said it was a new pepper they were using so I took medium.

The class was over. Jess had confirmed that we had practice at lunch. It went well. I had a good stay up in the library browsing through the same Dewey Decimal books again. I will have to bring a copy of the library’s cataloguing book that I made and compare then with the Abridge 13 Version. Mrs Solomon suggested that I check to see which version is the current one online when I get home. We had a good laugh that there was no photocopier machine in their library.

Class with 2F was not good. They were too restless so I did not teach. I just waited with them for Jess to take the two groups. “Miss Garraway” and “Miss Rahim” had a roll of small masking tape she used to label the keys on the piano. It was already too late to give them a proper sticking area. Mr Marcelle was having a meeting with Mel. She ended up going somewhere with Jess to get some materials. I took a ride up with Mr Raymond and “GG”.*

Before we pulled off I asked “GG” for a call to ask Daddy to meet me by the pharmacy. We went up by Isa but had to wait. God had answered my prayer and Isa came up with stairs 5 minutes later. He was not able to finish the quotes or the cards so I had to cancel immediately that idea and then go onwards to cutting Bristol board myself. Seems as if my quote lists will have to be completed by the very moment they are ordered, one at a time.

Charrans too did not have the type of cards (3x5 inches) that I was looking for. That evening all six sheets of Bristol board were cut into the same sizing. I met an obstacle when more ideas were coming to me. By my night’s end, it came to mind that it was best to stay with the regular cut Bristol board sheets as before or to design separate catalogues and subject cards myself. Cost became a major concern afterwards.
