Dear Diary,
This morning was
a hard one to wake up. I got to school just in the nick of time. Not many of
the teachers were there. Somehow Miss wasn’t feeling good. She came a bit late
too. Jess came late and went to her form class. It took me all of the homework
period to get yesterday’s journal entry completed.
She got students
to move the corridor of instruments to the music room from the staff room. The
students were long to line up and Jess got angry that the instruments in the
pan room were all over the place. ‘Thanks’ to Roberts for not assisting. Sadly,
there was no lesson prepared for today. The students were given a practice pop
quiz.
No patience to
wait for the period to end too. It reminded me of how disappointed I was by the
disorder of the Form 1 notes and the selection of topics in which they were
taught. It creates a big risk when study is not done on the exercises in the
book before assigning them to the students. We will see how those things work
out eventually. I had a laugh in my head watching Carmalitta watching in Miss
Lewis’ book and Mr Danclare cheating off of her book. I could tell they were
both cheating on the wrong answers.
I had 3M wait
outside so that 2L could submit their book before leaving. The scales lesson
was done with them on Friday with 3F. Roberts came into her Upper 6 as I was
writing the notation to the chromatic scale. Recesstime came by in a quick
flash. I decided to stay hungry seeing the buzzing crowd.
An announcement
of the monthly staff meeting came from Mr Charles at 11:08 AM. He instructed
teachers to set work for their students within 5 minutes. The meeting began at
11:16 AM (see logbook for the full description):
- Achievement Day (10th January) – POSTPONED.
- Field Trip Policy.
- Injury of Students & Medical Assistance.
- Security.
- Sports Instructors.
- Timetables for CAPE & CSEC.
- Infrastructure Repairs.
- Staff Report (due October 2024)
- TUTTA Comments
- Keys & Security.
- Staff Lunch.
- Madness.
The meeting was interrupted
by rain and thunder. Everyone got lunch extended to the seventh period’s end.
Thank God I did not have class after that crazy meeting’s end. I went home this
afternoon to insert chords for the first five sections of “Jireh”.
I was tired of
it and from 8:39 to 10:15 worked on a sticker for the library envelopes. I
could not believe how long it took me to complete this short 2” x 4” document.
I was glad that all of this work was completed even though I wished I had gone
to bed by 4 PM. “Soul Sister” was a good song for steelpan. It was playing from
the bus speakers this morning. Maybe I will give it a try.
