Dear Diary,
Today was supposed to
be a wedding for the daughter of a lady I met one Sunday after church during Sunday school pan class. After talking to the lady on Monday, she told me that she would have loved to have the pan in the service
but when she began to talk about accompanying someone at the last minute that
was not sounding like something I knew how to do.
I knew that I could go and force myself to learn the other people’s music as I would usually do but with music I do not know if the people had music arranged for themselves like score if they did things to enhance or vary the songs if they had music to offer me to play along or simply a situation where I would have to play along. The play-along one I really could not handle.
I had to call the lady back and say that I couldn’t do it because I would have had to be practising with these people for a while instead of the week that I met her in preparation for the wedding. There were two pieces I sat down by the computer and whipped up as tenor pan solos in case I was still going to perform. I instead went to Youth Group at church the same day before the wedding.
